A. Well, what are your weaknesses? Be honest with the employer but regulate what you say. You can be funny and say something like "Chocolate is my weakness, but seriously..." and you fill in the blanks. (It helps to break the ice) Be honest, some people tend to say they take on too much work, some say they have no weaknesses (Bad bad bad, all people do), some get too honest and say they have addictions to drugs, alcohol, and sex. Find the right medium for you, it is never easy to think of one's own weaknesses when we live in a society that pride's itself on strength. What is the best response to the 'What are your weaknesses' question in a job interview?
Q. I don't want to sound arrogant and say I don't have any, but I don't want to give a list of negative points either...
Asked by Nicki B - Thu Nov 6 17:13:22 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Turn it around so that your weakness is not really that bad. hard. Ex: I tend to pick up other people's slack, and instead of confronting them on it, I just work harder to get my job done and then do what I can for them. That's what I've always used, because one its true, and two its not really a negative. I don't like confrontation, and I do work hard. Might not work too well if you are going for a management position, or one where you need confrontation.

What is your biggest weakness? interview question?
Q. would this be a good answer to the question what is your biggest weakness? during an interview A: i think my biggest weakness is that i dont like asking for help and usually try to solve things on my own. by the way the interview is for a place with an arcade and buffet. there will be alot of kids and families.
Asked by stephy - Fri Feb 12 17:32:23 2010 - - 1 Answers - 1 Comments
A. That sounds like a pretty good answer actually. Honest answer to a tough question. Maybe follow up with something about how you've dealt with that trait. "I've made an effort to ask a lot of questions in new situations so I learn how things work," so they don't worry that you're going to start rearranging the buffet or remodling the arcade when they're not looking.

In a job interview question: What are your weaknesses? How do you answer that?
Q. It always is asked - and I don't have a good answer to that. Anyone have any tips on a smooth and compelling response?
Asked by George - Sat Mar 24 16:49:19 2007 - - 14 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The secret to answering this question is to confess to a weakness that is really viewed as a strength. For example: I get really passionate and engrossed in my work, and I forget that it is important to have balance in my life. Another example: I'm a bit of a perfectionist, and I'm always looking at how something could be better, I'm never satisfied with status quo. Another example: I'm very impatient when things take too long to accomplish. Good luck in interviewing!

A. Both have provide you with some great tips, I would add you can do a practise interview and get someone to ask you the type of questions you feel they may ask, most will ask the same for all types of jobs, I always had a problem with this one. "What is your biggest weakness or fault in the job", I was a chef, and for me I could get to involved and a bit overwrought, spending more time doing the others jobs and picking up,even helping were I should not have. sometimes leaving my own duties not in control. Think about previous interviews and there questions, most places will not get into the involved product or specific questions related to the job in most cases until the second interview and when the set up a training program/schedule.

A. This question takes many guises. It may be phased like this for example: What qualities do you see in others which you would like to develop in yourself? Strengths should be easy enough to think about (keep the position in mind). Weaknesses can be more difficult but you should try to think of something that perhaps you have recognized as being a weakness but have worked to overcome. For example: I d like to be naturally organized, like my manager. She doesn t have to try. But to help me, I use to-do lists and a diary so I can keep a track of where I am . Don't be too negative about your weaknesses. And by the way, it's always safer to identify a lack of experience or skill than a shortcoming in your personality, because an… [cont.]

A. This question is designed to test your critical thinking and skills under pressure. If you say I eat when I'm nervous that probably isn't too good of an answer. You gotta think up something that will relate well to the job your applying for. Like "sometimes I get too caught up in getting everyone on board for an idea or new project," for a leadership or management position. You could be more assertive and say that, "My weakness is that I absolutely insist upon making consensus decisions with those I work with for a management position. If it's customer service you could say that your "weakness is a tendency to remember everyone's names and that this causes people to interact with you and can some times get in the way of my efficiency, but… [cont.]

A. Ah yes, the age old question! First off the 1st and most important thing to remember is not to give an answer that is blatantly self serving ie "When I start working on a project I get so wrapped up in it I work too hard," or "I sometimes take way too much responsibility and end up doing as much work as possible even if it was not originally delegated to me." The best strategy to answer this question is to go ahead and name your most prominent weakness and then immediately cite the activities you have engaged in to proactively address this weakness. For example, "Sometimes when I am head of a group I have a hard time being the "bad guy" and confronting ppl when they under perform. To correct this I have employed several of the… [cont.]

Q. When asked this question, what is a good answer? (I'm going to a job fair tomorrow for positions where I will be working with kids and organizing different activities). Help please?

A. You have two options: 1. Focus on something that USED to be a weakness and then explain what you did to overcome it and why it no longer is a weakness for you. 2. Mention a weakness that has nothing to do with the job. For example, say that you are not fluent in any other languages if that is not a requirement of the job.

Job interview question "what are your weaknesses?" Some people say it is good to say that I am a work-aholic??

A. "I'm a perfectionist" always gets my attention when I am conducting an interview with a potential employee. It comes across as being critical of yourself, yet gives the distinct impression you are always attempting to improve your work without the ability to help yourself. As a supervisor, I immediately think "workaholic" and you don't sound like you are kissing butt.

A. One of the most important things to remember when you are going into an interview is that the company wants to get to know you. You as a person, not just as a resume. Questions like "tell me about yourself" and "what is your greatest weakness" are not meant to gain insight into your work background. They are meant to gain insight into your personality. The company wants to know that you will fit in with their corporate environment. So, when confronted with "tell me about yourself," spend a few minutes talking about yourself. Obviously you have a strong passion for volunteering. Why is that? Do you like being a part of something larger than yourself? Do you feel compelled to help those in need? A. You could use no previous work experience as a weakness, but you should have a positive follow on. In general if you filled out an application or submitted a resume your interviewer already knows you do not have any experience. So if you use it as a weakness you should be able to explain why you think it is a weakness and how you intend to over come it. A. When they ask you what your strengths and weaknesses are, tell them that you strive for perfection and some people might think that is a weakness. Then go on and say that you don't think there is anything that would prevent you from doing your job. I remember a guy we interviewed that told us his biggest weakness was absenteeism! He didn't get the job.

"Your biggest weakness" interview question?
Q. I've never been asked this question in a job interview but I'm preparing a response in case. The following trait is an actual weakness of my character (that could potentially be turned into a strength). Is the response in quotes appropriate to mention if asked? "My greatest weakness is that I'm indifferent to emotional criticism. Not all of us are perfect and occasional slip-ups unfortunately are a fact of life. I am unaffected by any display of anger from coworkers and clients. Clear facts about the graveness of the situation, not emotional outbursts, motivate me into action." I'm unable to perceive the urgency of a problem through anger alone. (You can yell and insult me all day with no effect.) I must be presented the cold,… [cont.]

A. I used to answer this question by saying that I didn't like to sit around doing nothing and always have to find something to do. "...I'm indifferent to emotional criticism.", "I am unaffected by any display of anger from coworkers and clients." This sounds cold-hearted and I wouldn't believe that it's true. "I must be presented the cold, hard facts before realizing the graveness of a problem." I'm not sure that I would go with this. It sounds like you couldn't figure out a problem before you were told about it.
