What advice would you give a first time traveller to India?
Q. I'd like to travel to India on what can probably be best described as a 'spiritual pilgrimage', and would appreciate any advice and information about the best places to go and stay, as well as places to avoid. Thank you.
Asked by Jen W - Fri Jan 30 22:39:40 2009 - - 11 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Most of the answers are really misleading. India has a lot of offerings and it really depends on what you want to see. Are you interested in history, temples, countryside, beaches etc. I would suggest that talk to a travel agent and go on some type of group tour. India is 3rd world country and you will find poverty and maybe people begging for money because they see you as a foreigner and you will have to deal with that but ignore the statements about suicide bombers. Stick to the popular destinations like Agra, Goa, Kerala and big cities like Mumbai, New Delhi etc. Avoid going alone back-packing especially if you are female. India is a lovely place to visit and you will be taking some risk going there but its not like going to Iraq… [cont.]

What advice would you give to a young adoptee struggling in an open adoption?
Q. We gave our word, so we will always keep DD's First Mom informed. First family does not follow thru with promises to DD. This has happened three times in different areas recently. DD wants a break from her other family. I believe First Parents (family) pain is greatly underestimated. Overall, DD's other family is amazing, kind and loving. I think they are struggling emotionally. ***DD is 10 yrs. What advice would you give her? Your kindness would be appreciated in this complex situation, Thank you.

A. Talk, talk and more talk - with your DD. Let her voice her frustrations. Let her know that she can feel whatever it is she wants to feel. Validate them. Perhaps encourage her to write a journal - so that she can get those frustrations out. (she most likely keeps things from you - and that's fine - but allow her to at least get them out of her head.) Ask her - what she would like to see happen at this stage. And back her up. She needs to know that you're doing what's best for her (that you have her back - so to speak) - first and foremost - but keep communication open - and say that things can always change. (as they always do) Help her write down her thoughts - perhaps in a letter to her first mum - just saying she needs some space - but… [cont.]

What advice can you give me when interviewing for a second job?
Q. I'm interviewing for a part time job at studio movie grill tomorrow, what advice can you give me to set myself apart. I am already at a disadvantage because of my limited hours due to my full time job. I also lack specific experience in this area.
Asked by smitty84 - Thu Oct 16 21:17:23 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If you will be selling tickets, food or collecting tickets you can emphasize your customer service skills, interpersonal skills, positive/upbeat personality, problem-solving skills (in case you have irate customers) and team-work skills. Think about the times you been to a movie theater and the service you received from the employees you interacted with. Think about what was great & what needed to be improved upon. You can speak to those things in your interview. As for your part-time availability ensure that you can arrive on time for the hours you say you can work. Emphasize that your other job/engagements would not get in the way of getting to work on time etc. Mention too that you are excited about the job opportunity and that you… [cont.]
